Since 2004, BASF Coatings has operated a site in Mangalore, a port city in southern India.Among other things, the site houses a production facility for manufacturing modern electrocoat paints.In this state-of-the-art facility BASF Coatings produces the new generation of CathoGuard^® e-coats.The site is also the location of the application center for the development of automotive paints, which was opened in 2006, a color lab for automotive refinishing paint systems, and a ‘Regional ECO Satellite Laboratory’ opened in 2008.

BASF Coatings' production in Mangalore is ISO/TS 16949-2002 and ISO 14001- 2004. certified. In 2007, Ford Motor Company awarded BASF Coatings in India the highest mark of distinction for suppliers – its renowned Q1 Award..
