Global Presence
Muenster-Hiltrup
A strong link in the BASF Coatings network
With a surface area of
just under 400,000 square meters (approximately 100 acres) and about 2300
employees, Münster-Hiltrup is the world’s largest production site for coatings.
Located south of Münster, the site is not only a center for the production of
industrial coatings and automotive OEM and refinishing products; it's also
where the company’s strengths in the areas of sales and marketing are centered.
New developments to ensure the long-term success of BASF Coatings' customers
also come out of Münster-Hiltrup – a strong link in the BASF Coatings
network.
An engine for innovation
To make certain that
BASF Coatings remains at the absolute forefront of innovation, specialists at
unique Competence Centers are conducting research – day in and day out – to
make the latest technologies fit for use in actual practice and ready to
benefit customers. Guided by the principles of ecoefficiency and sustainable
development, BASF Coatings experts are hard at work here on cutting-edge
technologies like waterborne paints and UV-curing paints as well as coil
coatings.
Expertise built over more than 100 years – Prospects for the future
With more than 100
years of paint production behind it, Münster-Hiltrup has amassed unequaled
expertise. This expertise allows BASF Coatings to anticipate the needs of its
customers and offer innovative solutions. In 2004 for example, the company
constructed a new distribution center, setting new standards in efficiency and
safety. In 2001 the site’s oldest production building was renovated to create
the new "Inforum" communications center, a striking architectural
achievement that has since become the venue for numerous corporate events of
various sizes and types. Since mid-2003 the Robot Application Center (RACE) has
given BASF employees from throughout the world the opportunity to run precise,
individualized high-tech paint application tests. The facility is also used by
automobile manufacturers for training and testing purposes.
Site manager Udo Vorbeck on Münster-Hiltrup and its recipe for success:
"This site has become so old because it has remained so young and
dynamic."
