Schwarzheide

The plant for waterborne coatings in Schwarzheide started its operations in 1993. At that time it was the first capital spending project made since the acquisition of the Schwarzheide plant by BASF. Until now, the company has spent 1.3 million Euro on manufacturing and infrastructure. About 100 BASF Coatings employees work at the plant. Due to its special process control system the installation can be run almost automatically. As a result, it is dedicated to the production of large batches. Throughout Europe, whether it is Germany, Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic or Turkey, Schwarzheide delivers the bright colors for the cars produced there. Prior to delivery the coatings will be checked in testing facilities and application centers. Due to its quality, Schwarzheide received the certificates QS 9000 and VdA 6.1 in December 1997.
