Integrated Process II
The aim of "Integrated Process II” is to integrate
functions which are currently performed by the primer surfacer in automotive
OEM paint systems into the basecoat. This innovation can make the entire primer
surfacer application section superfluous when coating automotive bodies, with a
corresponding shortening of the coating line. The functions of the primer
surfacer, its elementary properties, are taken over by a new waterborne paint
system consisting of two individual components. One of the roles of ColorPro I
is UV stabilization, while the other features provided to date by the primer
surfacer, such as appearance preparation and protection against stone chipping
are handled by this in combination with ColorPro II. Since the basecoat is
generally applied in two steps, the systems technology can be integrated in
existing lines, reduces VOC emissions by cutting out a complete coating stage,
and does not entail any color restrictions whatever.
