Glasurit and the German Center for Paints in Cairo team up 12/18/2008

New horizons in Cairo

Münster / Cairo. BASF Coatings’ Glasurit paints are now available in Egypt as well. The importer for the Glasurit products is the German Center for Paints (GCP) in Cairo. Antar Ibrahim, president and owner of GCP, has ambitious plans. He wants to make GCP the leading supplier on the Egyptian refinish product market. Brand new, prestigious business headquarters, a new showroom, a new training center and new employees have all contributed to the feeling of change at GCP, a supplier of automotive refinish products and non-paint products.

One of GCP’s first jobs as a Glasurit importer was the changeover to environmentally friendly, waterborne 90 Line technology on the Egyptian market. For this project, an international team from BASF Coatings and GCP worked together closely and were highly successful. Within 12 months, 10 large bodyshops switched over to using Glasurit exclusively. Yet high-quality products alone aren’t enough to win customers. As Ibrahim puts it, “It’s at least as important to offer the bodyshops all-around support. And as Glasurit importers we have a lot to offer in this area."  For instance, GCP can send technicians to bodyshops when they need support and the Glasurit training program offers numerous opportunities for training.

The Glasurit National Head Trainers from the Middle East region also highly appreciate GCP’s state-of-the-art facilities, where they met recently for a training seminar.

Ibrahim has reason to be satisfied. He has taken a huge step toward reaching his goal of becoming Egypt’s market leader. For waterborne paints, GCP is already on top.
