From a coatings supplier to a systems partner: As a result of
the new, extremely cost-conscious procurement strategies of the automakers
suppliers are often taking on the role of systems partner.
This takes the following form at BASF Coatings:
BASF Coatings has a service team available around the clock to ensure efficient
and guaranteed fault-free coating operations – in the interest of both parties.
An undoubted benefit for the customer. Efficient material consumption, savings
in staffing requirements in MRP, warehousing, and process engineering,
reduction in the reworking rate, to name but a few. And as if that weren’t
enough: A reduction in material use (less paint sludge and leftover materials)
means that the systems partnership also makes a significant contribution to
environmental protection.
Aspects of this concept can also include a different type of
billing. Under the cost per unit billing system the automaker no longer pays
for the quantity of paint supplied but for fault-free coated car bodies.
Last but not least, the partnership between customer and
supplier becomes closer, with greater understanding and trust. The systems
partnership thus offers a win-win situation to both the customer and BASF
Coatings.
